Description

The Edible Trees Program benefits local communities by providing access to fruiting trees. The program provides funding to community gardening groups that plant fruit or nut trees to be made available to the public. The trees increase equitable access to healthy food, empower neighbors to share in the harvest and care of city-grown food resources, and assists residents in understanding and participating in environmental activities in local communities.

The Edible Trees Program seeks to increase local access to fruiting trees and provide equitable access to healthy foods.

Impact

The Edible Trees Program provides communities access to fruit and nut trees. The program has funded 19 projects resulting in 1,320 trees & shrubs planted.

Results / Accomplishments

In 2013, 19 projects were funded under the Edible Trees Program. Each project was given a $3,000 grant, resulting in 1,320 trees & shrubs planted.
